Ariel has been an incredibly helpful tutor (1L) over the past school year and I am so glad I decided to enroll with her before classes started. When 1L starts, you are very busy and things can get crazy and Ariel helped me start my first semester off right. After realizing how much law school really focused on the ability to write good answers to essays, I decided to force myself to spend more time on sessions with Ariel and practice hypo-writing with her more often. I`m glad I made this decision because I finished the last semester with everyone and I certainly wouldn`t have done it without Ariel`s help. She`s super cute, very flexible, and will let you know what you`re doing wrong, the last one being something crucial that you probably won`t get much in law school. — J. Ariel works with you and is very willing to tailor strategies to what makes sense to you. Besides, and I think most importantly, there is NO JUDGMENT! I was afraid of having a tutor earlier because I was afraid of feeling worse than I had already done. Ariel is not only honest, but also friendly and empathetic – she was there, and she understands the temptation to watch Netflix 🙂 My tutor, Ben, adapted his explanations to my learning style, constantly controlling me and never abandoning myself during the moments when I wanted to give up on myself and I was convinced that I simply could not understand the material. Ben always paid attention to my best interests and was considerate with my tutoring.

When he felt my tutoring sessions were better focused on materials I hadn`t originally suggested, Ben worked with me to help me maximize my hours as efficiently as possible. Ben was always available and ready to help. It is a real talent to be able to accurately explain difficult legal concepts, and a rarity to find an extremely intelligent, down-to-earth and friendly person. Ariel`s tutoring was by far the best decision I made in the middle of my 1L semester. I understood the material, but realized I needed to improve my exam strategy because my three content courses had only one grade in the first semester. Although most of my private lessons took place during the reading week itself, it was an invaluable experience. I received a B+, A+ and A for my first semester. Ariel`s feedback was crucial and probably the most important factor in getting my excellent grades in the first semester.

Knowing the law on law exams is not enough, it is really a question of strategy and I am sure I would not be in this position if I did not have it to show me the way. — R. After making a variety of classic 1L mistakes in the first semester, I came across the Law School Toolbox podcasts, where Alison and Lee discussed different strategies that students can use most effectively to use their law school and critical thinking. Driven by her sympathetic approach to demystifying the challenges of law school, I enlisted the support of Doretta McGinnis, tutor of the law school toolkit. First and foremost, Doretta urged me to break with the memorization habits of undergraduate studies and adopt an analytical legal mindset. It was then that I learned to look at individual cases with a broader perspective on how law fits into the class curriculum. Using this knowledge as a platform, Doretta then helped me take a new approach to exam design and practice, through which I was eventually able to implement a methodical legal writing style and mindset. We will work with you to set up a program that addresses your specific concerns so that you can achieve the best possible results. (Of course, we can`t guarantee you`ll get specific grades, but tutoring will give you the skills and feedback you need to succeed in law school.) By patiently responding to each of my requests, Doretta gave me a greater sense of confidence in my testing and teaching skills. In addition, she is always looking for additional resources and quickly provides me with flowcharts, explanations and articles that can explain different areas of law in more detail. More importantly, Doretta`s openness to different methods of study proved crucial to my transformation to law school. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with her and look forward to continuing to seek her help throughout my legal studies. –AC. I can`t say enough to sing Ariel`s praises. Don`t wait to get tutoring like I did – sign up now and you`ll be very glad you did (although if you wait, they can still really help you). Thank you, Ariel!! -K.

My grades in first grade were poor, and if nothing had changed, I probably wouldn`t have been able to go back to school. I found the law school toolkit the summer after my 1L year and signed up for tutoring. Ariel explained to me what I had done wrong in my first year and what I needed to do to improve my grades. It was so comforting to know that she was always there to answer all my questions and that by following her instructions, I took the necessary steps to improve my 2L year. She taught me how to study effectively and not waste my study time on things that probably won`t help me prepare for exams. After a semester of working with Ariel, my grades improved from C to B+. My only regret is that I didn`t find them sooner!! — K. Ariel`s help was a lifeline!!
