In fact, fewer cars than ever before have fog lights because newer models do without them completely. However, fog lamp leaks only apply to headlights: rear fog lights are still mandatory in many states and are considered necessary for sharing the road with other drivers. No matter the weather, you should never rely solely on fog lights when driving. Many states have made it illegal to have only your fog lights on, even if your headlights are too bright for the weather. This is because fog lights only shine up to several meters from the ground in front of you, which means it`s hard to tell if there are oncoming obstacles like roadworks or passing animals. Although fog lights are becoming more and more popular on newer models, they are important if you have them. These handy lights are there to help you see the ground better in bad weather situations, making them crucial for older drivers, driving at night or in an unfamiliar area. However, remember to turn off your fog lights when the fog clears. Leaving fog lights on on clear days is dangerous for other drivers. Since fog lights are weak and pointing downwards, they are of no use unless visibility is an issue. The front fog lights are suitable for use in bad weather where visibility is limited, such as fog, rain, fog or dust. Because headlights can be too bright in poor visibility and reflect in the driver`s eyes, fog lights are safer and preferred by many drivers.
