Gulfcoast Legal Services (GLS) is seeking a Managing Director to lead this non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free, high-quality civil law advice, representation and education to vulnerable residents of Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties to improve the lifestyle and living conditions of the low-income community and promote self-sufficiency. GLS offices are located in St. Petersburg (headquarters), Bradenton, Wimauma and Venice, Florida. GLS is funded by federal, state, and county grants, as well as generous donations from charitable foundations, organizations, and individuals. GLS is not funded by Legal Services Corporation. From an early age, Shaina believed she would become a veterinarian, so she set her sights on Texas A&M University, a research-driven university with a strong history of excellence in animal science. There, she finally took a course in labor law and fell in love. She was fascinated by the legal framework surrounding discrimination cases. As a child, she saw her mother in leadership positions usually held by men and saw the challenges involved. She is particularly interested in cases of businesswomen who are victims of discrimination and harassment. GLS received additional funding to provide four full-time staff to the office, including a financial stability and housing lawyer.

The program is overseen by Robin Stover, Esq, a longtime Sarasota resident and deputy director of GLS. Ms. Stover has spent more than a decade leading the GLS mission to provide free civil legal aid services to those in need throughout Sarasota County. Your clients are able to avoid homelessness and stabilize their income with sometimes only a few hours of free legal assistance. „When I was looking for nonprofits that could potentially join, I was immediately drawn to GLS because it focuses on key human issues like fair housing and immigration issues. These are subjects that I know all too well. I am honoured that the GLS Board of Directors welcomed me into their circle. As a board member, I hope to advance GLS` core mission, which is to provide free legal services to vulnerable people on a range of fundamental human issues,” said Junior.
